Essential Legal Inquiries
Under the amended Ontario Construction Act, a contractor, subcontractor, or supplier has exactly 60 calendar days from the date of substantial performance, completion, or abandonment to preserve their lien by registering it against title. You then have an additional 90 days to perfect the lien by commencing a court action and registering a Certificate of Action. Missing these deadlines is fatal to your lien rights.
